Matt Lucey and Brad Smith of University of Toledo College of Law won the 2005 Evan A. Evans Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, held at the University of Wisconsin Law School. Finishing in second place were Carly Berard and Mark Criniti of Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
The award for Best Petitioner's Brief went to Kristen G. Williams and Heather A. Vogelsong of Willamette University College of Law. Jennifer B. Bickley and R. Michael Day of South Texas College of Law won the award for Best Respondent's Brief.
Mr. Smith of Toledo was honored as the tournament's best oralist.
Also reaching the semifinals were Elizabeth Chambers and Jim Svajgl of DePaul University School of Law and Marybelle Nzegwu and Summer Wynn of University of California - Hastings College of Law. Rounding out the final eight were Ms. Bickley and Mr. Day of South Texas, Kelly Vanderwall and Cortney Schaffer of Valparaiso University School of Law, Robby Boroff and Brian Bare of Loyola Chicago, and Xavier Brandwajn and Bonnie Law of UC Hastings.
Loyola Chicago swept the second-place brief awards. Mr. Boroff and Mr. Bare of Loyola Chicago wrote the second-best petitioner's brief; Ms. Berard and Mr. Criniti wrote the second best repondent's brief.
Ms. Chambers of DePaul was the runner up for the best oralist award. Ms. Wynn of UC Hastings finished third, and her classmate Ms. Lau finished fourth. Ms. Berard of Loyola was fifth.
